MISSION
circa 2018
I am devoted to the excavation of ancestral and spiritual narratives within my many selves. I believe that the simple act of touch can provide all the medicine a healing being needs. My movement practice has served as a modality for healing, heart opening, emotional processing, speaking without words, and spontaneous connection. Within my choreographic, improvisational, collaborative, and site-specific work, i intend to radiate unconditional love and reciprocity with all beings.
I want a little brown child to feel that they have the agency to articulate what they need to get out with ease and forgiveness. I want people to look into my face and see the million other brown sun faces that have persevered and survived. The mothers/fathers/uncles/aunts/abuelas y abuelos who wake everyday to their people's mission, who feel the burden on their shoulders like a gift. Who accept the divine, rolling earth as their very own eyes.
Through the expansion of the movement conjured in this indigenous body, I pay respects to all that has brought me here, my playmates, my elders, my ancestors, my mentors, and my students.
It is a pleasure to be witnessed by you.
